We use volunteers - and lots of them! REGISTER! Help a Charity! Volunteer Sponsors
Bagel Cutting

The Burns Park Run has been a volunteer-led event since 1979. A core group works throughout the year to coordinate event planning, but over 100 volunteers help make the run happen during the critical days and hours of the event. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the positions described below, please contact us! Many positions are filled, but not all.

Volunteer Positions:

Photographer: Any skilled photogs not running a race - must have digital camera(s) with lots of memory and batteries! Several photogs welcome! Laptop a bonus...

Late Registration/Packet Pickup: Help people register on Friday, Saturday, or right before the race. Six or more needed on race day!

Chip Collection: Bring scissors and a cardboard box and cut chips from participants laces at the finish. (6 needed; older child/parent teams okay.)

Flyer Distributors: Days before the run, flyers will be posted any "legal" place you can imagine - on bulletin boards, kiosks, telephone poles, large dogs, strollers... download here to help!

Barricade Setup: A highly desirable job bitterly fought for - must have access to a pickup truck. Sometimes rewarded with beverage packet.

Vocalist or Band: For the National Anthem - preferably someone with a nice voice and/or skills.

Cleanup: Anyone willing to help pick up the trash and fold tables will be thanked profusely!

Corner Guard: These people man the barricades at the corners during the run. The best ones bring the Rocky Theme and cheers for all! Chair and coffee optional.

Home Bakers: We offer muffins, cookies, and other treats to offset the calories burned over 3.1 or 6.2 miles - or to feed volunteers! Contribute a little or a lot.

Bagel/Brunch Setup: Slice and spread cream cheese on Zingermans bagels. Setup drinks and other snacks. 7am raceday.

Fruit Cutters: Cut bananas and oranges. Bring a sharp knife to the warming hut at 7am.

Bikers: Two bike riders lead the male and female leaders through the course for each race. Must be fast and willing to shout "10K race leader!" The BEST view of the race!

Water Stations: Pre-race delivery of folding tables and cups to two homes on course. Bring a hose to the BP Warming Hut to fill cups/coolers with water and Gatorade.

"Twenty percent of the people do eighty percent of the work - but everybody gets free drinks and snacks!" - BPR volunteer
